Lizzie Connor’s new solo exhibition Pathways is a body of work illustrating the creative pathways she has taken in life, both metaphoric and literal.

The work is about a lifelong love and relationship with the ocean and the marine environment and where that love has taken her, with all the visual and emotional attachment that goes with those journeys (pathways).  From surfing to fishing to just being in and near the saltwater world is her place of clarity and calm.

About the artist

Lizzie Connor has been an artist and art educator for more than 30 years, in that time holding 35 solo exhibitions and several joint exhibitions.  Her art tutoring has taken her to many places including the Greek Islands, Norfolk Island and a regular annual week of drawing and painting in Fiji, as well as working and completing residencies interstate.

She has now taken leave from the teaching arena and is focusing her energies on her own creative pathway.

Lizzie said most of her work, but not all has been, created within the realm of the marine environment.

“I do, however, stray into some different pathways with different subject matter. That can be more land-based, such as creeks and rivers and the riparian environment, but all of the natural world.

“I have spent many years creating methods that now have become instinctive, using different media and methods – including acrylic paint, inks and charcoal. Different trends come and go, and I hope my work will stand the test of time and remain as relevant to its source as the day it was created.”
