MARY VALLEY SCARECROW FESTIVAL COMPETITION ENTRY GUIDELINES
HOW TO ENTER
1. Entries open 1 August 2026. Register your ‘crow by 28 August 2026 to be eligible for the judging round.
Collect a registration form and number at your registration centre OR
print an Entry form and submit it at a registration centre to collect your number.
2. Display your scarecrow by 1 September 2026. Judging will be conducted on 1 September 2026.
Or just build your scarecrow and display it for fun, the more ‘crows the merrier.
3. Award presentation TBC. All winners will receive a certificate in each local area.
Mary Valley Grand Champion selected from local area winners.
- Registered ‘crows will be displayed on a Google Map after judging.

WHAT TO DO
1. What type of scarecrow do you want to create? What sort of materials have you around to be used? Choose your category.
2. Choose the location for your scarecrow. Consider several scarecrows grouped in a good viewing location. How fantastic would that be!
3. Register your scarecrow with your local centre OR print an entry form (link above).
4. Receive your laminated registration number to display on your scarecrow.
5. You can optionally write a poem, limerick, or some short story that adds to the character of your scarecrow. What sort of story would your scarecrow have? Attach it to your ’crow.
6. Have your scarecrow in place by 1 September 2026.

SCARECROW CATEGORIES:
- Traditional: T-shape skeleton and body with human form.
- Artistic: Anything that is an original idea.
- Child (up to 15yrs): Youth section.
